OCULUS operate as interrelated, autonomous studios based around people with talent. As small to medium-sized studios, our approach to work and practice is highly customised to the particular studio locality, not standardised or repeated. Our responsibilities are shared among staff, and our practice and behaviours are highly transparent. Critique and monitoring is automatic and ritualised. As such, OCULUS is non-corporate; our individuals both carry responsibility and enforce it. Ethical, commercial, environmental and public duties are believed, not enforced. The OCULUS studio model is sustainable by virtue of its community structure. The collaborative environment encourages appropriate behaviour ensuring consistency in process and outcomes.
